The Weird, The Wonky, and The Whimsical! Sculptural Decoration and Saving Wobbly Pots

Come learn to make mugs you can’t find anywhere else, and turn those pots that came out a little wobbly into works of art!  In this wide-ranging survey workshop, students will learn various techniques for incorporating sculptural elements into functional ware to make truly unique work. Additionally, the workshop will cover mixed throwing and handbuilding techniques to salvage and even elevate “wonky” pieces that didn’t come out the way you may have intended. Welcome to anyone with throwing or handbuilding experience of any age!

  • This is a two-day workshop, attending both days is required
  • Both days are dedicated to sculpting
  • Glazing will occur during Open Studio or by the instructor
  • Techniques covered include but not limited to: alternative handles, slip techniques, open and closed form throwing, and “putting a mushroom on it”
  • All materials provided
