Hello! My name is Roshelle, but my students call me Miss Rainbow because I love using color in art! 🌈 I have been a Teaching Artist at the Davis Arts Center since 2022, and was involved in classes at the Center years before, as a young artist. I earned my degree in Book Arts from UC Santa Barbara in 2020, and became a printmaker, book binder, and practicing artist shortly thereafter. I am very passionate about art and community, which is why I am excited to be a Teaching Artist connecting with artists of all ages and witnessing their talents. I am especially excited to share my art knowledge with young artists, who always inspire me with their creativity and joy for art! Whether I am facilitating Summer Camps, mixed media classes, workshops, open studios, or Teen Art Club, I always look forward to each program I get to offer, because they are opportunities to connect with artists exploring and expanding their creative expression.
Artists Whose Work I Admire: Alma Thomas, for her colorful, abstract paintings; Barbara Kruger, for her feminist and political text-based artworks; and Julie Chen of Flying Fish Press for her intricately bound books and boxes.
Favorite Artists: However, will always be those who taught and mentored me in my art studies!
Favorite Activity: (Other than making art) is dancing. I have done partner dancing (Lindy Hop, Blues, Salsa, Bachata, etc.) for almost 10 years!
Favorite Art Mediums: Printmaking, book binding, and anything mixed media. Recently, I have been enjoying creating miniature dioramas, and magical items like potions and wands
